I've tried out a few side games in Second Life in my time and Magic Fishing is still my favorite one to play. Firstly, it's free! All you need to do is pick up the Free Rod and Free Hud on the marketplace and you're ready to go fishing.
Of course, if you want to speed up your fishing time or get more points towards your ranking in the game, you can always be fancy and buy a better rod and bait (in world, from the vendor barrels). For a long while, I only fished with the free rod, and still could make about 100L's a day if there were nice events going on.
I could go into more detail about how to play and what I do, but really it's up to you to decide if you even like it and want to invest some time in visiting different Sims and repeatedly clicking on your rod to cast for the fish. *remember to try and always thank the Sim owner for hosting the event, because without them doing so, you wouldn't be making that money at all. It's just the polite thing to do.
But, I recommend it, if you have some down time and want some extra spending money and also just want to have a chat with other people in the fishing community. There is a Magic Fishing Group and everyone I've spoken to has been very helpful and friendly and I've made friends while fishing! The game has it's ups and downs, and there seems to be steady amounts of maintenance but it's still my favorite of all the Second Life games I've tried.
